Converter routing problem

hi guys,

I am a bit lost.

I have an alphalink (with the SSL madi extreme card), a mytek ADC96 and an aurora 8 with adat interface.

the mytek ADC96 is hooked up via adat to my alphalink ax (no AES), the Aurora 8 as well.

first problem:
I have 2 hardware units which I use as "external effects" in cubase (channels 21-24 out and in on the alphalink). I tried all the routing options and finally ended up with ADAT/Analog (both on input) and madi on the output. what happens is, I can either use the external effects or the mytek ADC via adat (if I switch to adat (input) to madi (output)..

the manual explains, that you can't route 2 inputs to one output on the alphalink... so I am pretty much fukd.. or am I missing something?

second problem:
it doesnt matter what I do but the aurora doesnt play something on the in or the output when hooked up as adat on the alphalink (the aurora is in sync via BNC WC.. green light constantly on).

so.. I am looking for a solution to have all the units playing at the same time. I found out that one option would be to buy a RME MADI card but that beast costs 1300 euros.

or..

should I go another route and sell everything (except the mytek) and get anoter system?

I am on PC. I need 32 outs and 16 ins. I need ADAT and/or AES in/outputs if possible (if I change the whole system, AES is first on the list).

and no, 32out/16in of prism ADA8 is out of my range.

let me know.

Hi George,

You can assign this. Press the output button until it says MADI. Keep it pressed and press the input button until it states analog+ADAT.

Then press the output button again, until it says Analog. Set this to MADI. Do the same for the ADAT outputs.

Option switch 1, LED 4 states whether analog or ADAT is routed to the first 24 channels.

You can do the routing from the DAW from now.

Is it clocked correctly? Do you get inputs through the Aurora?
If the first 24 channels are analog, the Aurora should be on MADI out 29-30-31-32 in your host.
