Phonix Helix Firewire 18

Anyone used the Phonix Helix Firewire 18? Having a discussion right now with someone about using it for live recording. Wondering if it's any good. I have also heard that it uses the same firewire chip as the Mackie Onyx boards (which I have heard is a bit troublesome.)

Any info is helpful. Thanks.
