Can anyone do me a huge favor? (drum samples)

The owner of a fairly decent sized indie label asked me to help one of his bands out in the studio. He wasnt happy with their choice of engineer or studio, but the band HAD to record there because it was one of the only studios near them and they're good friends with the engineer thats always worked with them and hooks them up pricewise... (they refuse to rack up debt to the label for a recording, and are paying out of their own pockets). Anyways I did a recording for this label a couple months ago that turned out really well, and the owner asked me to go down and help finish the recording, and then take it home to mix.

Anyways the label wants a decent sounding rough mix to show their distributor, who funds half the label. So i need to soundreplace some samples over the kick and snare, and totally redo all the tom tracks, because they're a lost cause.

So im stuck in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of adats and need some sort of kick, snare, and 2 tom samples. Almost anything will do, since its a roughmix. The engineer never took any sort of single hits at the beginning of the recording, so thats out of the question.

So anyways, if anyone could send me ANYTHING that sounds somewhat natural for rock drums.... to mynameisandreas@aol.com, I would most appreciate it.

you could download Sampletank Free and one their free drumkits. They have it for RTAS, VST, and MAS. I think you need the program to access the sounds, but once you have it open you can probably print them to a track

I always take samples at the end of tracking sessions, even when rolling 2". Give me a little idea of genre and I'll send some. 412-231-7767

Last week I sampled some nice Toms from Ringo Starr: The Beatles, Abbey Road, Track 16: The End, nice and twangy
When you need a massive compressed Kick, that cutz thru: Lauren Hill, Track 2, Lost ones
Snares you take from Led Zeppelin

cheers, kosi

Depending on the style of music, I've had good results with the "Drumkit from Hell" samples.

Pretty good kicks and toms, but not a good "clank" rock snare for my tastes.

They're due to release another one soon.

I'm about to buy fxpansion's bfd http://www.fxpansion.com/bfdflash.html

That thing looks nice.

Was just wondering if there are any legal issues with taking samples from copyrighted records?

Cheers mate!

A fellow Gearslut here sells an acoustic (rock) drum sample library for $20 which is excellent. Check out the website here: Musicians-Samples You can purchase the sample CD from his Ebay store. It will serve you well in the future too.

Of course, you could always make your own samples...

And since this thread isn't in the hip hop forum, it is NOT okay to rip and sample other people's work without their permission.
