Does anyone have specific experience with the Shure A15HP inline high pass filter?

I'm a voiceover artist tracking with a U87 into a DW Fearn VT-1. I also live in an area of Toronto near a streetcar line and several major streets with truck traffic. The preamp does not have an HP filter. Normally not a problem - I can easily eliminate subsonic rumble in my DAW.

However, it gets more complicated when I am using SourceConnect or ISDN. My preamp signal - for better or for worse - is being fed directly down the pipe to the receiving studio. No opportunity for fixing the rumble.

Before I start trying to get the Fearn modified with an HP filter, does anyone have any experience with the Shure A15HP inline high pass filter? It looks interesting, but my questions are: does it work? And, does it audibly distort/degrade the audio?

Any advice is very much appreciated! Thank you in advance!

I don't have the filter, but do use the shure pads and find them to very reliable and transparent.

does your U87 not have a low cut switch? already in?

Hey Adam - thanks for the response. Yes, the U87 has a HP filter, but it's pretty much useless to me ... It starts its roll off at 1000 Hz, and is down more than 12 dB at 120 Hz!

I've used the Shure HP filter with good results for live work on a boomy stage. I have not used it in the studio. I would have guessed the rolloff to be a little higher than the literature claims (~100Hz).
