| Joe Walsh - Analog Man
This was on sale so I picked it up. Kinda funny buying a CD with this title.
It sounds like Walsh quoting himself here and there but after just a couple of listens, I'm finding some likes. Nothing has blown me out of the water, unfortunately. I won't be surprised if the title tune and "India" turn out to be my favorites. If you'd just passed me the lyrics sheet, I would have had a good chance of guessing they were by Walsh. They make me laugh at times because his cliches are predictable in a funny way. It's no challenge to hear his aging process in songs like "Band Played On" and "Family".
My major criticisms of the disc revolve around percussion sounding too simple and programmed and the overall production being a bit too slick. Maybe my expectations were too high? Like so many contemporary pop/rock albums, one of the threads is about frustration with the status quo, rather than an acceptance of the new - let alone anticipation of the future. I guess the title fits.
