Need Better Vocal Chain

My current vocal chain consists of the following

BLUE Baby Bottle(a little hyped on the highs good on some voices)
Focusrite Red 1 Mic Pre(Pristine sound but not in your face phat)
Drawmer DL241(nice transparent compressor)

I want a more in your face phat vocal. Thinking about this

Mojave MA-200 Tube Condensor
Brent Averill 1272(don't need eq on 1073)
Drawmer DL241(I have 2ea.) Don't compress much going into DAW

The Neve clone comes to mind because I also want a good pre for electirc guitars. I know everything depends on the source you are recording. I just want more options for differnent types of sounds

What say ye? Thanks in advance for comments and recommendations!

When I think "in your face', I think of API.

The Baby Bottle by comparison to other mics is not hyped in the highs in my experience. Rather it's the opposite...sort of rolled off on top and on the bottom with a flattish sort of response. Overall I find their Bluebird mic ($100 less) to be more useful and a nice all purpose mic.

My question for you though is: what is your mic'ing technique?

If you're looking for in your face I'm curious to know if the singer is working the mic closely enough to acheive this sound. It may not be gear you need, but maybe proximity. Hard to know from here of course.

A dynamic worked very closely could be a better solution than another condensor.

I agree with Warren. I use the Baby Bottle for female vox with a FMR RNP because of the flatter response of both. With the mic about 4"-6" back, slightly higher than the singer's mouth and pointed down a bit, I get a pretty "in your face" sound. I had to experiment a little bit but in the end it works. Then again who am I to stop you from being a bit slutty....Go API!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!thumbsup

Somehow I doubt buying a preamp is part of this equation though.

1. What kind of music do you do?
2. What is your budget?

Cause not knowing the above, I'd say sell all your prosumer POS:
- BLUE Baby Bottle(a little hyped on the highs good on some voices)
- Focusrite Red 1 Mic Pre(Pristine sound but not in your face phat)
- Drawmer DL241(nice transparent compressor)

and get:
- Neumann U47
- Neve 1073/1084 (I disagree, the EQ is vital)
- Urei 1176

PS: there is nothing "nice" about transparent, unless you are thinking "nice" as in "nice guys finish last".
