Apogee One vs. Motu Microbook II vs. ???

I've owned a Duet, One and Duet 2 and my experience just kept deteriorating

the Duet was the shit, the One was great but the USB and breakout cables it came with were shit and needed replacement not long after buying it brand new and also the build quality was complete crap, the Duet 2 didn't work at first, got it replaced, then had driver problems up the wazoo until recently that they somewhat fixed it but only for OS X Lion, which sucks cos I'm still on Snow Leopard and will probably be staying here until I buy a new machine which wont be for another year

I did a track for MOTU earlier this year which was used for their video introduction at NAMM 2012, but that's the only experience I've had dealing with the company, it does make me lean a bit towards them now though

I basically want to know if anyone has put both to the test, I need everything to sounds good because I'd be taking advantage of mostly all it's features

the converters need to be nice and clear, the headphone amp needs enough juice for my AKG K702's, mic preamp needs to have enough juice for my SM7b and the instrument preamp needs to be good enough for a Fender Jaguar HH (in case I don't end up getting a Pod)

I know the sound quality of the One is great but the build quality leaves a lot to wish for, is the MOTU Microbook II up to par sound quality wise but with better build quality?

also, if there's any alternatives to these two that I missed, please don't hesitate to share

Look at the sheer size of the Microbook and ask yourself...

Can you physically fit nice clear converters, a juicy headphone amp, a good enough preamp for an SM7b and a good enough DI not to suck...?

Also ask yourself, if the Duet was the shit, what's stopping you from still using that?

From my own personal experience I can say that MOTU's build quality is pretty bad. And their customer service is about as bad as it gets.

If you're in the US or Canada I'd get a refurb'd Duet:

Good luck

needs to be small and portable, and the ONE is even tinier than the MOTU but sounded great so size can be deceiving

only problem I have with getting a ONE again is the shitty quality of the plastic casing and the cables, mine almost completely fell apart, one of the lights stopped working, the cables kept breaking, but if my only good alternative...

bumping topic

I no longer need an amp powerful enough to drive AKG K702s nor preamps powerful enough to drive an SM7b

I'm still interested in the MicroBook II or similar

all I need is good converters with a decent amp and decent enough preamps for DI guitar every once in a blue moon and maybe vocals through an SM58

it also needs to be compatible with Windows so the new Apogee ONE is out

budget is less than $300

MOTU's are fine. I use my Microbook I every day on locations and gigs (and my 828mkII and HD192's at the studio as well) really don't get the bashing here..

offtopic P.S.: I'm least satisfied with the HD's, which refrains other gearslutz' opinion AND the null test results..

I'll A/B them D/Awise against our Ensemble next week having them hopefully at the same place..

if you spend any time here, you'll soon learn that opinions are like assholes. a bunch of jobless assclowns whose mouth's are bigger than their bite. Their is no mid level interface out right now that can't give you a professional result.

I know the quality of most the mid prices units will be great, what I'm worried about is mostly drivers, low latency performance and build quality

I bought a microbook I guess about 2 years ago when I was on a pc (simply would not work, terrible crackling, the drivers were a a big issue. I returned it a couple of days later (I'm sure by now they've worked these issues out
