this one : EAR 824 Mic Pre 824M Valve Microphone Preamplifier | VintageKing.com

or something that costs more if you can find it. Also make sure you have a converter that can work at 235 Ghz and add some pure sine tones to your recordings with a frequency range that varies between 34Khz and 6Mhz, just to be sure you'll annoy any animal species on the planet. I think this would be all...

Just write some really embarrassingly bad songs that sound like everything else over the last 25 years.
Instant grammy.
You won't even need that pre-amp.

I love it that people would think it's so easy. By all means, have at it.

So clearly your post is a joke...in any case, I love entertaining these kinds of posts...so with that said...

Which Grammy do you want? Best new artist, best vocal performance, best engineered?

Your criteria will most certainly be different for each one. Start writing, make sure you stay an active member and contribute as much as you can to Naras as winning a Grammy, many times, is also quite politically weighted as well.

Good luck btw...

Of course the OP is joking
Btw, despite I agree that today's pop is nowhere near the one from the 60ies and 70ies, there are some artist that won a grammy that (at least IMO) deserved it! (could you believe that Billy Cobham was the BEST MALE ARTIST on Billboard 100 in 1974.. I saw the plate on his wall!.. Just wondering if we will remember who it was the best male artist of 2012 in 40 years from now..)

Back to topic.. Ray LaMontagne last year won a grammy (even if I think that Ryan Freeland won the grammy for engineering that album, I don't remember exactly, don't quote me on that)..
...btw there's thread on GS where Ryan explained the techniques and the gear used.. the Avedis MA5 was the preamp on vocals, ac gtr and overheads

Ray LaMontagne & Pariah Dogs - God Willin'

I wish it could be that easy win a grammy after buying a preamp..
For sure Ryan (and Ray) won that grammy for their skills (in recording and/or songwriting) and the preamp, despite was for sure involved for reaching that sound, was secondary.. Well, I guess it's the whole enchilada that won the grammy, but in my book skills came first.
