Oops. sorry for the delay.
the 102 card is good.that is THE mix card for this box.
the scotch card is kinda the older lower fi tape thing.distorts faster.its cool.I'm sure i'll find uses for it
did a mix and I ran a bunch of kinda thin bright sounding PT tracks[the overheads were especially awful, think 451's or 184's] out & printed back through the 102 and 351 cards tweaking diff tapes & bias/eq slightly to darken some things a bit.hitting different levels for a bit of saturation here and there..then ran the whole shebang through the 102/456 after the Ears.

damned if the thing wasn't way easier to mix.used less eq.helped a lot

Cool. Looks like the 102 card is in my future.

Scotch card> Looks to be a more effecty tape card than the others? Like if one was to tape distort/crush drums or something (for a measure or so, like trip hop dj's do a lot), the Scotch might work better than the other tape cards?

this is some of whats cooking in the MCI

183's in ch 9,10 for mic pre and buss O/P
283's for rear summing (passive w/ lo11468 transformers) and rear O/P
3314s for rear insert send and return (lo11467 line transformers for return)

and the front busses are 990's with jensen transformers.

so obviously as previously stated the quad buss has been split into two pairs.
these pairs can be run serially or parallel with each other.

i'm not using it.
i was using the room with the 16 channel electrodyne console and my other racks.
now the mci is in there getting finished and the electrodyne is getting integrated with it so the whole room is down.
its been down 2 months and counting now.
inching closer to completion,
inching closer to oblivion......

the MCI has modules loaded in it.
lights are on and tones are running thru it.
still some modules to fix and some gain scaling to do.
but man its getting really close.
should be done by the end of the decade......

i aint wiring shit.
i just think they are inferior technology.
as in a shitty connector.
everything i dont want in the thing that connects gear t other gear.
they are not made for lots of connecting and disconnecting.
they get finnicky at funny angels and tight spaces.
it makes shit not work.
i hate them.
and they are the standard.

Man, this is a great thread! It took me a while to read through all 20 pages of it, but there is some great info on alot of my favorite albums and some high end gear that I'd love to own. Anyway, how's the mci coming along? Can we expect to hear it on any upcoming albums? I'd love to see some pics of it? Also, does it have anykind of automation, or do you do all of that in PT?

Thanks,
Joe
