electric gtr pick ups that drop in level gradually, then "recover"

This is driving us mad...

It's easy to SEE in Pro Tools, this f**king gtr outputs fine then pover 10 seconds or so it dies to half volume...

WTF?

active electronics requiring battery change?

faulty pickup?

bad vol pot?

short in cord/cable?

fingers hitting vol knob while playing?

just thinking out loud...

Is it a Les Paul ? I had the same thing goin on a while ago, the reason was some dust in the output and between the rythem & treble switch.
At the guitar shop they fixed it with an air compressor & some contact spray, never happend again

Off the top of my head I can think of at least a dozen things. What kind of guitar, pickups and what's between the guitar and PT? Is it a DI right off the guitar or is it going to a guitar amp?

All you need to make a record is a mic, some tape and maybe some bad reverb...
