Can i use a single studio monitor?

Hi, guys,

Im fairly new when it comes to studio monitors.
Just a quick question.

Why are single studio monitors available ?
Can i just buy a single monitor and use it ?
Is it recommended ?

Im asking this because i could be buying one single monitor and then be buying the second studio monitor when i hav enough money .

So could i buy my first single monitor and use it then buy my second after 3weeks and how would i go about this?

Its only becuase i want to spend more money on my studio monitors and get a good pair, but buy them single.

Thank You!!!

They're probably sold single so you can setup multi channel system more easily... Or buy a replacement without needing to get a pair.

If you want to write and mix stereo music you need two monitors for left and right. Just like your home music player and your car probably do.

When started out I just used a set of computer speakers until I could afford better stuff.

If it will only be three weeks until you can purchase the second monitor, I would highly suggest you wait to buy both at the same time.

Beyond having a stereo set up (which you'll need to do any mixing at all..I mean some people will argue you can mix in mono), you'll want your monitors to "burn in" at the same time (monitors take time to break in and really open up).
