Can anyone share any thoughts they might have on the SE Titan microphone?
Thanks, joe.

Harmony Central Review of sE Titan

I won an sE Titan from Front End Audio, Thanks WAR!!!!!

I havn't had a chance to use it myself yet, but I loaned it to a buddy who was tracking some vocals. He had been using a Studio Projects B1 and for what its worth he felt it was much kinder in the highs and that the bottom was really tight.

Best, trans

I did a quick and dirty acoustic guitar shootout with a Titan a little while back -

I bought a Titan a few years back and its my main outside kick drum mic. Pretty great on loud guitar amps, too. I would miss it if it were gone...

I went to a pro audio shop and tested the SE Titan on male vocals, comparing it to Neumann U87, Neumann TLM 103, SE Gemini II.

The titan sounded very lame compared to the other mics. It seemed to have no character and sounded very boring.

I just used the Titan on a very high profile contemporary jazz record - a very well known sax player - we recorded at Westlake in LA. We AB'd a C12, a U47, good old 414, a Titan and others.... through an original 1073 pre... on this particular musician - the Titan was the right call..... the engineer was even shocked..... it's all about what's right on a particular source. I have two Titans in my studio and find plenty of uses for them - definitely an incredible value and a good mic regardless of price. But... they would not be my goto mic for vocals etc..... and they don't have the fatness and warmth of many of the more popular mics ala U47/U47 clones. Of course it's not a tube mic either.... I find them pretty clear and detailed...

We were shocked at how good it sounded.
But it was voice only.
click here and compare to others.

Anybody have any shootouts we could listen to? I'm quite interested in the sE line.

Smooth and tight with some sheen, that is the most simple way I can put it.
