Selling Waves and WUP question

i have v8 for the SSL bundle. i would have to pay $200 to upgrade to v9 (WUP)

if i sell my ssl bundle, will the new customer be required to pay WUP or would it be like a new purchase. thus, he will automatically get v9?

I'm in the process of selling off some of my waves plugs and contacted waves to find out what is required in their post iLok world. This is what they told me in regards to selling license transfer...

- product must be covered by wup.
- must be upgraded to v9.
- no transfer fee if under $700 list price ($150 if over $700).

The new buyer will not get a free upgrade to the latest version as if he had bought it new. He will get whatever version you sell.

The other poster mentioned that you're supposed to update it first. I had not previously heard of that, but that may be the case now.

However, I am surprised to hear that the WUP would be $200 on that. Did you check the box that says "I use this on one computer at a time"? You want to make sure you do that.

It's only $487 brand new, so I'd be surprised if the WUP was actually $200.

I was thinking the same thing as far as the WUP being $200. That doesn't sound right. I would think it would be more I the $60 range.

As far as upgrading to v9, I'm guessing that's there way of getting everyone off of ilok and onto their WLC platform.

You can't sell at all until your WUP is current/paid up.

When your WUP is current you will have the option of going to V9 first, or you can sell it as V8.

V9 is cheaper to sell because you don't have to pay iLok for the license transfer.

Contact Matt Bottcher @ Waves (his email is matt @ waves.com... no spaces). From what I understand, he is the guy that handles all of the transfers.

No need to fax... you can email him the info as well. Get in touc with him and he'll tell you what he requires to make it happen.

That's not the way it was explained to me. Here's what I received from Matt @ waves...

Quote:
Here are the steps for a transfer of ownership. Each license being transferred will need to be covered under the Waves Update Plan.
*
1)***** First make sure your license has been updated to version 9.x in your Waves Account.
2)***** If your version 9.x license has been authorized, please move the license back up to the cloud from within the Waves License Center.
3)***** Please send me an e-mail to matt @ waves .com with the following information (we will confirm all previous iLok authorizations are removed):
Waves Login (where the license is registered): ______________
Waves Password (where the license is registered): _____________
Waves Login (where the license needs to be moved): ______________
Waves Serial Number/s being transferred: ________________
4)***** There is a $150 transfer fee for products $700 (normal list price of higher). This transfer fee will cover as many licenses as you need to transfer at one time. (The $150 transfer fee does not apply to the products you mentioned below).
5)***** Upon receiving your e-mail I will confirm the following steps are complete and then e-mail you a credit card authorization form to complete this transfer payment (or it can be done via PayPal).
6)***** Once this payment is finished I will complete the transfer. The Waves Update Plan end date will be transferred to the new owner as well.
*
If your plugin/bundle is less than $700 list price, no cost to transfer.
