Elemental Audio has been bought out... alternatives to their Peak Limiter?

I was all set to buy Elemental Audio's Peak Limiter for $169 when... they get bought out! Can anyone recommend another in the same price range? This seemed like a really good deal.

Also, their mastering EQ/spectrum analyzer seemed like another good mastering plug-in. It's still availible under their new ownership, but is slightly more expensive. Anyone used it who can tell me if it's worth the $250 or not? Here's a link: http://www.rogernicholsdigital.com/p...tail.aspx?ID=8

Thanks all.

Can you run PC VST plugins? Between Voxengo Elephant 2 and Kjaerhus MPL-1 you should have any limiting task covered. They are so different, I don't think you can really compare them - but on different source material, one will be clearly better than the other. I view them as Hard and Soft respectivelly.

In my view, nothing is worth iLock or challenge/response.

Hey Kiwiburger,

VST's unfortunately out of the question. I'm running PT LE 7 on a G5, so it's gotta be RTAS. Thank you though!

Thanks a lot Rail Jon! These look up my alley.

By the way, when I was a Windows user, I loved your prog that enabled you to use the 002 core audio (err whatever its equivelent is called in the Windows world) with any program. Saved my life a few times.

VST's are very useable in PT. FXpansion's VST to RTAS converter works very well for effects and instruments. It's worth the price just to use all the weird plugins that guys with way too much time on their hands write in their basement:

Hey there,

on another forum we did a maximizer shootout between free stuff and more expensive plugs like wave etc.

you can see the result here:

http://www.revolvermusic.no/vic/maximizer_shootout.html

personally i think with voxengos elephant 2 and inflator, you can get pretty cool results. never liked the elemental audio one by the way, it was too smooth for me
i also don't like the L3 of waves since it really brings some funny treble noises into the mix and swallows some bass.

thumbsup on the PSP VW... however for my tastes and for a bit more money ($220-$240) you could consider the Sonalksis SV-315... it is extremely versitile, musical, and can be quite transparent if you need/want that. It's my fav plug-in compressor/limiter period.

Wait for Steve Massey's limiter. All his plugs are great.

Thanks for the positive endorsements. The limiter should be out in a couple weeks at most, probably sooner. It's completed & in the beta testing stage right now.

I also give a thumbs up to the WaveArts limiter, if you can't wait on mine I haven't used it extensively, but it sounded pretty nice when I demo'ed it a while back.

I would say the elemental one never really sounded good to me, nor did the wave arts. My faves are L3 and the UAD precision Limiter.
That massey one should be interesting......

I've been referred to Massey's plug-ins by a couple of people off the board too. And for $69 a pop, that's unbeatable. I think I'll wait for his limiter.

EDIT: Wow! Steve posts on here himself! I love this forum! Haha.

Steve, I'll definitely be grabbing yours when it's completed. I've also got my eye on the compressor and the tape head simulation.

Agreed!!

I sent Steve a seperate mail before I saw his post here hoping that maybe he has plans to develop either AU or VST

I will continue to hope!

(BTW, I have both the WaveArts and the UAD Precision limiter and they are both quite good IMO.)

I second that question about whether or not Massey plugs will be available in AU. Us logic users are dying to use your plugs, Steve.

I also have the wavearts limiter, which unfortunately fits into the not so great category.

i think if you really want a low budget limiter, voxengo is the best so far.
