Elysia, Alpha Compressor

This baby is definately the coolest box of the show. I couldn't take my hands off it, kept coming back to it all the time (to the annoyance of the creators ). It by far exceeded my expectations, both sound wise and build quality wise. It's sturdy as hell, the knobs could probably survive a hit with a sledgehammer.

The sound: Anything you want it to be! In feedforward mode it can be abused like crazy (I managed to get a slap bass loop to sound like it was played in reverse! This with out any nasty distortion). In feed back mode it's more tame and can be used for extremely subtle thickening (the ratio of 1,1:1 is very nice!) and transparent compression.

The Mid/Side button is a real treat! That's the mode a lot of people will leave it into as it's quite hard to destroy anything with it (of course one has to watch out for stereo "holes" that might happen if the middle is ducked too much compared to the side).

I'm still learning the unit and it's of course very difficult to hear exact details here at the exhibition but it's immediately obvious that the Alpha Compressor is true high-end design. Last but not least, the Elysia guys are very friendly and obviously very proud of their product. They truly deserve to succeed!

Cheers!

Amen...
Looking forward to hearing the Alpha "In Situ", I can't believe how addictive the eq section is when u start playing with it, the Mix knob is another great tool, parallel compression "In the box"!

Congrats to Ruben and Dominik, you guys nailed it!!

Cheers!!

Did you know that the guy that designed this helped design (or designed) the SPL Transient Designer..?
