Question NS-10 time alignment

i just remembered that at school we were told about "time aligning" the woofer with the tweeter on yamaha ns-10s by putting a piece of something (wood?) between the woofer and the box, so that makes the woofer more "in front", something like 2 centimeters. so that woofer and tweeter are in phase.
has anyone tried this? has anyone ever seen (heard) this?

(yes, i still speak english like a french cow)

Seen a pair of NS-10s with a Time Aligning mod on ebay but the buyer put it back on ebay a view days later.
