Mahler 5th Outstanding Rec./Denon

Is it just me, but when I`m listening to Mahler Symphonies (to me the 5th&7th, occasionally the 4th&2nd) I always come back to the Denon Inbal/RSO Frankfurt Recordings which to me not only seems to be the best interpretation but has an outstanding sound quality - to me the best orchestral sound recorded I´ve ever heard.

It is said to have been recorded with 2 room mics at the Alte Oper Frankfurt in 1986.Anyone can elaborate on the recording techniques and devices being used?

The Solo Trumpet Player in the 1st Movement is a highlight himself:

Here`re the other movements of this 5th for those who want to listen.
Unfortunately the youtube upload caused some limiting effects for the louder parts which of course do not exist in the original recording.Though it`s still listenable

Here`s the 7th with Inbal/RSO Frankfurt.
That`s the one that actually brought me to these Inbal recordings.
Especially the 1st movement always is like an earthquake to me.Also
the last movement.
