Thread Starter | Gearslutz hacked?
Was editing a response to a thread and after hitting the edit button
My browser refreshed the page to some porn site search engine
Seeing a few posts in google about it, it seems fine on my
Ipad, but if I use one of my other computers and type in the gearslutz
Website, a completely different porn website shows up.
Anyone else seeing this?

Omg!!!! I though i was the only one. I just lasted 2 hours running virus scans, reseting my ip address, dns servers, my router etc etc  ...by the way i could acces gearslutz through my smartphone, the problem is on my pc.

Yes, it's hacked from US-based DNS, but I can enter via a VPN.

Yep, I can't access it with my desktop browser, ipad browser or ipad app. Hope they get it sorted!

Still very intermittent over here using Firefox in the UK.... Not sure if I dislike it though

This reply came directly from Julian who is the administrative contact. I had sent him a message immediately with a tracert of the path to "new" gearslutz:
There was a typo in one of the nameservers and a spammer registered the typo domain name and has done this redirect.
The typo has been fixed an hour and a half ago so now its just a matter of waiting for the correct DNS information to re propagate around the world
It may take several hours.
Sorry for the inconvenience or any embarrassment caused.

You have to flush your DNS cache. Clearing your browser cache won't get it.
Open a command window and type:
ipconfig /flushdns

I was sitting in a conference today checking GS and suddenly more or less undressed ladies showed up on my screen. Talk about embarrassing.

There are still major issues in Canada.
I can only view the site in my iPhone Safari browser. The porn site has made the site inaccessible on my iPhone GearSlutz app, work desktops, and home laptops.
Any idea of when this will be fixed? And yes, I did the DNS 'flush.'

This problem occured last night but it seems ok now.
I tried both my Mac and my PC, Firefox, IE, and Safari. All took me to a porn search page.
Glad it seems mostly resolved...

Just tried to reload 15min ago and got the porn site!
down for about 10min.
worst was there was no "action",no matter what you clicked on the porn site...:-(
...too bad I thought I would get a much needed break from GS! lol!

Weird, working fine now on IE on my work computer, but my iPhone gets the dating site on Safari and the app doesn't work.
