Some people.

Yup, i am a troll who just thought he'd advise you about your monitor questions. But you know it all, so it's cool. i do, actually, know what i'm talking about, i make records that people buy, and get played on the radio. i'm cool with my choices, and certainly don't need to hear the applause from the peanut-gallery when it comes to the things i've accomplished. You posted a question and got answers and then became a bit of an asshole about them, i'll be sure to ignore your future posts, ESPECIALLY the "i just blew my whole speaker budget on monitors that suck balls - what do i do now?" one that'll be appearing in 6 months.

Oh, and , by the way, it is ENTIRELY possible for a studio monitor to sound "too perfect". Ask anyone that has actually DONE this job. Some monitors gloss over your mistakes and make the mix sound amazing, and then when you get it somewhere else you find that you've buggered the whole thing up. This was my experience with Dynaudio's. The didn't "translate well" (look that term up in the glossary of some book somewhere, it'll make sense then) and that can be a product of a number of possibilities. Why do you think that there are "Hi-Fi" speakers and "Studio Monitors". But i forgot, you know it all. Have fun out there. i'm gonna go get paid for making music with clients.

To be fair this could be a simple mis-understanding of the use of the word perfect.

To me the definition of a 'perfect' monitor is one that is most true to the source, without any flattery. Hence the confusion.

Semantics can be a bitch sometimes.

Not sure what difference that would make, words are words, chose to listen to good advice or don't, your call. But being rude will get you nowhere in this business. Also troll doesn't mean "someone who has a different opinion to yours", but I'm sure that was just to provoke a negative reaction.

That's certainly not the definition of trolling. Trolling is to ask questions that:

a) you already know the answer to and just want to spark controversy
b) are just plain ridiculous
c) are irritating and know will get a rise out of people

Best of luck.

Save yourself a few hundred more bucks and get yourself some sE Eggs or Focal Solo 6's. You won't regret it!

I've been using a pair of Dynaudio BM6A's for over 10 years now. They still impress me - I want for nothing more.

That's a good one, I'll have to steal that one for a good laugh at some point.

Enjoy your Focals, much better technology, it's newer, better, at last, mixes will translate!

LOL NS10's are used to emulate the sound of a junk home hi-fi system, not for mixing a world class album as your ONLY monitoring system. Dynaudio = port noise, bulky, overpriced junk.

Come at me boys.

Focal is better than Dynaudio, hands down. Better quality speakers. Better technology.
