Profiling comes to the Axe Fx 2?

I have not found a definitive official statement on it, but you find the rumours already in several places, quoting Cliff Chase, that a future firmware update of the Axe Fx 2 will include the ability to profile amps similar to what the Kemper does.

Here is one example where this is discussed on the Fractal Forum:
Cliff please share more info about the future "automatic modeling"!

If you search a bit more, e.g. other threads on Fractal's forum, or on Ola Englund's Youtube channel (specifically the videos of him profiling his Mesa Rectifier with the Kemper), you find more discussions on it.

Should actually not seem to be a big deal. The Axe has the i/o to do it, and the rest should only be implementing the algos into the firmware, right?

This is VERY interesting! I'm torn between both units. This would definitely push kemper out of the marketplace somewhat if it is implemented right by fractal, which in turn will help with my decision

Especially with guaranteed free firmware updates for life with fractal, and each firmware update has previously been decent improvements

For life? Not really, Axe FX 1 still FW 11. No more updates.

It looks to me as though that announcement has been made quickly to try and hit at Kemper's potential customers. Honestly it appears a bit juvenile if you look at the Axe forum and how Cliff has been talking about the Kemper. And seeing as how the Axe Edit and floorboard were both touted for years before release, I am certainly not going to hold my breath. In any event, if it does turn out to happen, competition is always a good thing for us consumers.

It is much too early to judge if Fractal can deliver. Let's wait until he's done. He has just started the profiling ... It'll take its time. Otherwise every developer would have had a "profiling something device/vst" for years.
