Thread Starter | Just got a pair of Yamaha HS-50s and need help
Hey, i just picked up a pair of Yamaha HS 50 m monitors off of craigslist today. The guy wasn't selling any of the cables with them. I know I need 2 power cord cables, but what do I need to connect them to each other and to my computer? Thanks! |

depends on your audio interface... do you have one of those? Don't take this as an insult.

You can connect them to your interface (assuming you have one) with either two xlr or 1/4 inch trs. That is, one cable (xlr or trs) goes from the left monitor out of your interface to the left Hs 50 and one cable (xlr or trs) goes from the right monitor out to the right Hs 50. |

| Gear nut | that's a little odd but ill bite... Assuming you want to use them as monitors for your music production/recording affairs you're gonna need an interface... One of those would give you some inputs (mic or instrument, maybe even midi), low-latency drivers and some outputs (two of which you'd plug to your yamahas) Assuming you just bought those as speakers, the easiest way would be a Y-cable (TRS 1/8 -> 2 x TS male 1/4) from your mac's headphone outputs (or audio-out if macs have those) to your speakers... but i really dont know how that would sound... The optimal way to make that connection will always require a middleman i think.

| Yeah, stereo pin jack to 2 1/4" TS cable will work as well as it can. One of these. Hosa Technology - 3.5mm TRS -to-1/4" TS Cable - CMP-159 |
