Sound on Sound "seems" more unbiased! and more diverse.

Tape op for sure...it's like Christmas every month when I find it waiting for me.

Sound on sound has a lot of great stuff too.

I take the reviews in both with a grain of salt...but you always should imo.

Another vote for Tape Op.....I let my Mix and SOS subscriptions lapse years ago, wouldn't know what to do without my Tape Op though.

SOS The variety is unprecedented, its pretty to look at and all the photos makes it an easy read.

TAPE OP Really enjoy the feel of this mag even though it seems to revolve around the lo fi much of the time. It sort of feels like a cult read.

EQ The magazine lost touch with its readers base in the early 2000s but is making a great comeback with Craig Anderton now at the helm. Also, combining EM with EQ was a no brainer to me. Now the emphasis is back on the people!

MIX is just boring.

Just my O.

Resolution is about the only one left that has what I consider relevant information on the craft... the others seem like the recording geek version of "People"... as always, YMMV.

Peace

For me its SOS.

They have over 20 reviews of software and hardware gear each month.

Then they have an article on recording an artist. Recently they had one on Tony Bennet recording his Duets II record for instance that has detailed information on how it was recorded, what gear and information on the duets with the artist.

Then they have over 15 articles on technique which includes dedicated articles on using the lastest version of Cubase, Logic, etc. Now they include some info on video recording as well.

No other magazine comes close to what SOS offers.

Tape Op and SOS for sure. I like the reviews in SOS, and the "classic tracks" and "inside track" articles are great every month.

I had never heard of Resolution until this thread, I'll check it out.
