Thread Starter | I'm still noob I need some help.
My question is if it's ok to leave audio interface saffire 6 on my 8 inch monitors (i don't power them up much). Also what kind of isolation would you recommend me instead of auralex (because its too expensive) but more cheaper and effective. I'm in small room. Thanks! |

Hello an07ther, welcome. I don't know what you mean with your first question. For your second question: http://www.thefoamfactory.com/acoust...usticfoam.html |

You can leave the interface on all the time - just make sure it's on before you turn your monitors on. Second question - check out the studio building and acoustic forums.

Hi. I meant that I don't have enough space where to put my focusrite saffire 6, so is it okay to leave it on the one of my monitors. I don't think there would be problem as I don't power my monitors much. Hope it will not break the interface.

Oh lol yeah of course it can sit on a monitor, won't damage either the interface or the monitor at all.

Google is your friend... Searched "foam products uk" eFoam, all sorts of foam: Acoustic Sound Proofing Foam BTW, just be careful that your interface doesn't vibrate off of your monitor. |

| Try these guys. I got some 50mm Knauf Earthwool RS60 from a branch near Glasgow recently. They seemed to be pretty well-stocked - there are a lot of different weights and thicknesses to choose from so figure out which one you want first. I think the 50mm RS60 makes good general-purpose broadband absorbers (you can double up, or use single sheets). Nine 120x600mm sheets in a pack, about £25 per pack if I remember correctly. Sorted ![]() PS: AFAIK it's quite safe to work with but the fine fibres are itchy if they get on your skin so wear gloves and a face mask. I'm still trying to figure out what the best, cheap covering fabric would be. PPS: I just realised you said "isolation" not "absorbtion". High-density mineral wool like this is used to attenuate reflections within the room but they won't help much to stop sound escaping from the room. If that's what you need, I'm afraid that's expensive to fix and requires changes to the building itself: floating floors, double walls, etc. |

I wouldn't want the vibrations of the monitor affecting the interface, if it were me.

I would keep the interface elsewhere, that's asking for grounding issues
