Electrix Repeater and Midi Pitch Changing Problem

I had previously only used my Repeater for basic looping and simple multitrack experimenting. Today I finally got around to hooking it up to my old Fatar midi controller. My intent was to try to adjust the pitch of some loops in real time using midi via the Fatar. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this. I am wondering if my Repeater has a midi problem of some kind. I've done the following:

(1) Hooked up the controller MIDI OUT to the Repeater MIDI IN.

(2) Set the controller AND the Repeater to MIDI CHANNEL 1.

(3) Recorded a short loop on Repeater Track #1 and started playback (of the loop).

(4) Selected PITCH EDIT on the repeater and selected Track #1 to be edited.

(5) Press a key on the controller (starting at "middle c") and working one key at a time up and/or down.

The Result? Nothing happens. The pitch stays the same. Also...the "midi indicator light" on the Repeater IS NOT lighting up. I've tried different midi cables and midi channels. The Repeater software IS (I believe) the latest version (v2.10). Have I missed a step here? I can change the pitch in real time via the Repeater front panel controls with no problems. I'd really like to use my keyboard to control the pitch of some loops. Any help appreciated. Cheers.

Have you checked that the Fatar is outputing midi? Seems like you've done what should be done, which leaves either a fault with the Fatar or the Repeater. I would record the midi with your DAW to make sure it is sending midi notes correctly (no key splits or transpose or anything wierd?). Then try sending the midi data from your DAW.

Kiwi,..I've used this old Fatar (for years) to control my Roland, Emu and Alesis hardware rack synths. No problems to date (even used for that purpose this very day). I've never had any issues sending MIDI signals to these units. I just didn't know if I missed a specific "midi enable" command on the Repeater. Cheers.

Got it figured out. Peter Toms (really nice guy) at Condor Electronics (Electrix's only support site for old gear) sent me the manual addendum for the Repeater Version 2 OS (which for some reason I did not have). The Repeater defaults to MIDI Channel 16 on power up and the pitch is controlled via MIDI CC#'s 28-31 (28 for track 1, 29 for track 2, etc). Works like a charm! You can get some pretty insane looping progressions via the pitch shifting. It sounds pretty good, too (especially based on the age of the unit). Man..this box was really was ahead of it's time (when it came out) and still impresses. Lots of NEW fun to be had now. Cheers!
