Thread Starter | Bill Withers: Any GS who know about the early records
I have watched Bill's "Still Bill" about 10 times now on Netflix. Just wondering if there is anyone here who worked on some of those early incredible but to forgotten records. I would love to know if anyone knows about Bill's Vocal Chain he sang through...Of course, he could have sung through anything and those songs would have still spoke! TS |

Do a search, I started a similar thread about a year ago. A member here by the name of "Hoops" is friends with Bill. And Jim Williams had some recollections. I never found anything in print other than an interview with Booker T. He's the guy who produced/engineered on those original sessions maybe someone knows him here.

Thanks yotonic. I found that thread but very little info on his early records. That's what in was hoping to find. Here's hoping someone here remembers or knows about the Booker t and James gadsen era! |

You can always PM "Hoops" and see if you can set up a phone interview with Bill himself. It would be nice for someone to write an article about those sessions and capture it before its too late.

I'd be interested in more comments on Bill Withers recording info too. Enjoyed the Still Bill Documentary very much. Quote:

A year or so ago I remember one of Daniel Lanois' people tweeted something like: "Who do you think Daniel should work with?" And I couldn't help but think that a Lanois/Withers album would be pretty special. | ||
