Rosetta 800 AES/db25 breakout question

I am looking to pick up a rosetta 800 to replace my failing MOTU 896. I currently have a SEK'd Prodif 88 8 in/8 out AES card with the db 25 breakout to 4 male and 4 female XLR. I haven't found any evidence to suggest that this interface will NOT work for me. It connects just fine to other pieces of AES gear I own.

What I'm wondering is if I'll have to shell out the long dollar for the official Apogee db25 breakout to connect with my AES card or can I substitute a cheaper solution like the HOSA version. ($50 vs $179!)

I do not need to run the total length of both connected breakouts any more than about 6 or 8 feet to reach from the rosetta to my computer.

I would also ask the same question for the db25 breakouts to access the analog in and analog outs on the rosetta. Can I get away with an inexpensive solution considering he distance from the rosetta to my analog gear is really small - a couple of rack spaces away. THX
