Gear is the new record industry

The music industry is not dead, just different. A "hit" nowadays is an app for the iPad. Of course you cannot record a full band playing through a song on an iPad and get fully professional results.

But the music business is selling samplers, kaoss pads, iPads, prosumer recording gear etc. Such is to recording what 45 rpm pop records were to music in the early days of the music industry.

Yeah there are some pro musicians and engineers here at GS but by and large the majority are fans of music who, like DJs, pretty much record and play their own danceable "music". This is also why a good deal of the apps for the iPad and drum machine type of instruments have real time function. This allows a fully interactive music experience.

Music consumption nowadays is a fully interactive experience. The sooner one gets that the better I would think for the bottom line...

So,kinda like teaching someone to fish instead of giving them prepared fish.
That's cool, except most people can't cook worth beans.
I guess that explains why the fish doesn't taste as good as it used to.
