unable to discern between virus ti polar and keyboard 61keys

Hello, i have never owned a synth before and i intend on purchasing one of the virus ti series, i also never played a keyboard/piano before and also intend on taking lessons, i would just like to make a decision on wether i need the polar with its amount of keys or does the 61keys has more potential, what do most artists prefer / use for the making of melodies

If you REALLY want to learn how to play then do NOT get either one of those keyboards. You will either not learn how to play the keyboard because you are going to spend a bunch of time twisting knobs and tweaking out in the Virus software control or you are not going to use ANY of the power of the synth because you are actually trying to learn how to PLAY.

Decide if you want to learn how to play keyboards or you just want to craft sounds. If you really want to play keyboards then get an 88 key keyboard with the bare minimum of knobs and make it your business to practice every day. There are no shortcuts.

And for the record I own a Virus TI2 keyboard and love it and love the keyboard. I just would never try to fool myself and practice on it. I do that on a real piano. I wish you success and I hope you don't take my comments the wrong way. I am trying to be helpful.

thanks for replying

will be considered, although if my interests are such that do justify the purchase of an hardware midi-synth combo, i have now came to realise that theres are two polars for both versions 1/2 of the TI

how do i distinguish between them because i seen some sold on ebay for very attractive prices but i cannot discern on what model is it
here are two pics displaying different constructions, which is which?
