I need your opinion on the c1 studio project microphone. Thanks, Nippdog |

Top end is really harsh, sounds somewhat grainy and thin, oddly enough it can cut through a dense mix when used for a vocal track. Had it for a couple of months and sold it.

I would not class it as really harsh. It does have a harsh edge to it in the highs, but it's not totally horrible! For the money, it's still pretty good in my opinion. I have many better mics, in my collection and am looking to sell my C1, but I don't regret buying it as my 1st LDC.

I think the C1 is too bright - and like the B1 much better. T3 is a very nice model too.

Has a very hyped top end which is very difficult to control with eq and deessing. I'd take a Røde NT2 above it and above that a Neumann TLM 103 (much hated and probably also more expensive than the C1). |

Oh, it's definitely usable, don't get me wrong. The main problem I have with it is that I find that it doesn't takes eq very well and I much prefer having to add some highs if nessecary rather than trying to take out the harshness.

I've demo'ed it an awful sounding mic, in my opinion YMMV |
