Pre-amp vsts?

In an effort to warm up my mixdowns from itb is it a good idea to send my vsts through a preamp, or record through one from ITB > preamp > ITB?

Nobody really knows what you specifically mean by "warm up".

But if you're looking to add some subtle character to your software instruments it can indeed be useful to pass their signals out through a good sounding preamp or hardware EQ and then record them back into your sequencer.

It works better on a track by track basis IMO. You might experiment and see for yourself.
