Drum Mic'ing - Mounting Hardware Suggestions

Hey everyone. I did a search here, and even on the internet, but I didn't realize there were so many differing opinions on this subject. As I trust most of the "lurkers" here, I figured I'd just start a new thread - my apologies in advance if this is an old subject.

I currently have The Shure A56D-style mounts and I cannot stand them. Surprised?

For one, and the biggest for me - they are incredibly limited in their positioning with the octagonal shape of the telescoping top. I use SM57's with these, and they rotate a full 3-4" from stop to stop. Very hard to get precision positioning. Also, the screws that hold the mic clip wear out very easily. Currently, all mine are duct taped.

So, I guess I'm looking for recommendations. If possible, I would rather buy individual mounts than a whole kit. I already have the kick drum stand which is just fine. And, really, I only need like 3, 4 at the most. I use stands too.

Thanks in advance!!

Thank you Pawel. Those look like Medieval torture devices! I suppose I should have specified that I was in the USA.

Ah, the country in which you slaughtered millions of native americans? Sorry...

The mic clamp I suggested is one of the best, and the base of the Opus 88 which are excellent tom mics: BEYERDYNAMIC OPUS 88 - Thomann Cyberstore Italiano
