Expanding control room. for bass trap problem

Im thinking about knocking out my back wall. My question is. Right now I have serious bass issues. Tons in the corners little in the middle. What would be the best dimensions for expanding the rear of the room as a bass trap 2 or 3 feet ? could I use that space as more than just a trap ?

Are you asking if you want to make the back wall into a bass trap? I am having a hard time understanding your question (bad head cold today )
Before you knock down a wall are you firing the monitors down the 15 foot wall? Is your mix spot 38% from the front (12 foot wall) wall? What kind of acoustics are in the room now? Maybe you can fix what you have before you have to get a hammer out.

Bonney,

For a room that size I'd just treat it with as many bass traps as you can manage. If you had the chance to make it a lot larger, then you'd have something to consider. But going from 15 feet to 17 feet, and having to leave all the other dimensions the same, won't gain you as much as a half a dozen (or more) bass traps.

Also, Glenn's advice about placement is right on the money. The drawing below shows the best way to set up in a rectangular room.
