| Antelope Isochrone OCX vs. DA So this whole "clock" thing has got me going through a loop. Two things: 1. Can anyone give me both the "ordinary-man-on-the-street" and the technical difference(s) between these two units? 2. Can someone point me to a good website where I can read up on clocks in general? Many Thanks! |

| The OCX clock is a master clock, while the DA is a clock distribution amplifier. If you want a great master clock for your whole studio, the OCX. If you want to use an existing piece of gear such as an A/D converter or digital console as your master clock, the DA will reclock it to remove any jitter and then distribute it to your other gear. It can also take an AES/EBU or S/PDIF signal and regenerate master clock from that, which is pretty cool. The DA is also meant to be used with existing master clocks. The main reason for a distribution amplifier is to increase your number of wordclock outputs, or maybe to run sync to another room, etc... To read up on digital clocking, you might check Bob Katz' Digital Domain website. Nika Aldrich also has a book with in depth info on digital audio. The Dan Lavry section of the Pro Sound Web forums also has a ton of info about clocking. |
