Thread Starter | Is it worth getting Sound Anchors for Dynaudio BM5As?
The stands would end up costing more than what I payed for the Dynaudio BM5As [I got them for 1/2 off -> good deal!]. Right now the monitors are on my desk and I can tell it's killing my monitoring accuracy. I can't help but think that fixing this problem along with adding proper room treatment might stave off my desire to upgrade my monitors. There's also these, which I find more aesthetically pleasing than the sound anchors: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TheStand Any thoughts/experiences? Any thoughts on using sound anchors in conjunction with primacoustic recoil pads? |

Go for the adjustable sound anchor pair and you'll have stands that will last you for your whole life... It's worth it for sure. The adjustable set will let you change your monitors (different sizes require different positions) andif you get a set like Focal Twins or the Adam series you can change between horizontal and vertical and the stands can handle them easily. Also, the sound anchors look great- at least with my setup I have a lot of black so they just blend in with everything. |

If you can afford it you have a long term investment you can use with other monitors in the future. If you'd rather save money for now and want to reduce energy transmission into the desk, I'd recommend the Primacoustic Recoil Stabilizers. They work well for me on my desk. If you bought the stands there's not much point using the Recoils as well imho. Recoils are good for problem areas such as large desks. |

I would spend a great deal of time finding the perfect position, and height then buy some fixed height sound anchors Or know a welder?

Price, once you have the monitor height set no reason to play with it. Fixed is more stable and such a simple structure that nothings going to go wrong!

After looking tirelessly at all the monitor stands on the market, I finally caved in and bought the adjustable sound anchors last week. They should be here tomorrow, and I will post my thoughts after I get them in place and evaluated! |

Sound Anchors are here. Damn... they do make a big difference! It's a huge improvement compared to having my monitors just sitting on my desk. Now I understand what "stereo image" is. The whole entire sound is tighter from top to bottom as well. I'm assuming that getting these stands makes a bigger difference than switching between converters [provided you are switching between decent brands/models]. I can't wait to install/optimize my room treatment and maybe get some Dynaudio bm15as on these stands. Has anybody bought the "conecasters" that sound anchors makes? They are like $15 a pop [way expensive for a floor protector]. I haven't installed the decoupling spikes yet because I have hardwood floors, so I might be missing out on the full experience here. |
