quick question for pt users

I received amplitude with my factory in pt le. I am thinking about buying th sansamp PSA-1 plug for DI work. What you recommend? Where is the best place to buy that plug (best price).

thanks

For PT LE I'd recommend Guitar Rig by Native Instruments;

Try the LE version of Amplitube that comes bundled, and you can also run a demo of the Sansamp plugin if you have an iLok.

The sound of the upgrade version of Amplitube is similar to the LE version, but a bit more flexible.

I personally don't prefer guitar rig, soundwise, but I know there are many who do. Just gonna have to check it out.

Ever since my girlfriend started grad school, I haven't been able to fire the Marshall up at home as much, and I've depended on Amplitube to get my songs happening at 2:00 am. I sometimes reamp or retrack with an amp, but sometimes it works in the mix and it stays.

The saturation algorythm in Amplitude LE is pretty good. I've used it as a kind of limter for live guitar. Especially good on bass.

But if you really want some options, you gotta try out Izotope's Trash. You get a lot for very little. Check it out HERE. As for presets, check those out HERE.

Two weeks no hassly trial demo! Just do it!

...and if you decide to buy, don't pay the $199-; get the Izotope 64bit Bundle (Ozone 3, Trash, and Spectron). A hell of a value at $299- while they still have this offer (at Sweetwater).

I have Amplitube, Sansamp, and Ampfarm on my HD system. Of those, I really prefer Ampfarm, and I pretty much only use sansamp to dirty up guitars that were already recorded with an amp. But on my LE system, I use Amplitube all the time. It sounds pretty good, and will definitely give you more options than Sansamp. I really wish ampfarm could do RTAS too, but Amplitube is a good substitute.

Amplitude is not a stereo plugin you have to insert it as RTAS on a mono track or use the MultiMono plugin on a stereo track. It will not list on the stereo plugin list. ONly plugins that are compatable with the track you are trying to instantiate a plugin on will be listed. This is true if the bitrate is not supported by the plugin (like several of the Waves plugins will not list in a 96khz session [what a joke!]).

I'd also recommend you sit down for a day or two and go through the manual. You will never use the power of ProTools if you don't understand what you have.

Right out of the box, you can start recording, but its the ease of working with ProTools that makes it a great interface. You gotta know what you're playing with to make it "second nature". It's too easy to fool yourself into thinking you are doing one thing while in fact you're just screwing things up. All the important information is smack dab in front of you with a click or a shortcut key.

...and welcome to ProTools
