Sly's drummachine on Family Affair...?

Hi there,

I was wondering what drummachine Sly Stone uses on Family Affair? Is it the Maestro Rhythm King MarkII or is it the Hammond Rhythm Auto Vari-64? I think the thing is called also the Funk Box and is used also on f.i. Chocolate City of Parliament...

Also, are there any good samples of that thing to be found...?

Regards,

Roger

I have a little video and a quickly made sample set of the Maestro MRK-2 here:

slowburn :: Maestro Rhythm King MRK-2, the “funk box”

After I put this up, I was told Sly might have actually been using the MRK-IV, most references I've found point to the MRK-2, but his biographer says it was the IV...

Very good input! Does anybody know what the difference is between the MRK1 and the MRK2, as well the MRKIV (of which I never found one on ebay or samples or whatever).

Also, anybody who can help me on good, clean sampled, original preset loops of these machine would be great and deeply appreciated...

Regards,

Roger
