New Peluso ribbon mic...

http://www.pelusomicrophonelab.com/R14.html

From their website...

This design of this microphone is inspired by classic ribbon microphones. It has a natural rich and silky sound. It is the perfect complement to your microphone collection, offering a distinct color difference from condenser microphones. It features a custom output transformer made by Tom Reichenbach of CineMag Transformers, which adds to it's stunning realism.
The microphone comes as a complete system, with Microphone in Wood Box, and Shock Mount. Hand built in the USA.
*MSRP $759.38 USD
*Introductory Special through August 31, 2006 $694.38

And what more famous ribbons would those be? The Royer and the AEA R84 are pretty famous. Do you mean with the RCA 77 or 44, or Coles?

We now have the new Peluso Ribbon mic available for sale on the AudioLot website. You can choose either a single mic or order a stereo pair.

Sorry, my english was bad, I meant I am interested in this thread and in its comparison with Royer, etc (i.e. more famous brands than Peluso) as above, so keep them coming. Just that :-)

OK, I understand. But this particular thread is about the Peluso ribbon. But yes, most of us are also interested in the more famous and sometimes more expensive brands. But it's exciting when a new mic comes out. Who knows? I might end up being one of the famous ones one day. And here we are on the ground floor.

Of course :-) That's why I'm curious to hear opinions on its performance and also on how it compares against those brands!
