Will they drop PT HD1, HD2 OF prices?

"The ACCEL card appears to be a super dsp card replacement for the HD Process card. The new card is twice as powerful - but has a list price only $500 higher. HD2 and HD3 ACCEL systems will include the new card instead of the Process cards previously shipped with these systems. The other news is that ACCEL is shipping immediately."

If this is really true, will PT HD1/2 OF get cheaper? This would make more people upgrade .

Thanks

Did you see it on the Website? WOW! I was just looking about an hour ago and saw a post on DUC about it and now it's fornt page!!
I'm right in the middle of an HD2 upgrade, I don't know how this will affect it.
It looks like the HD core will remain the same. Process cards will go bye bye so their price will no doubt drop and go the way of the dsp farms.
I just don't know if Accel will only run on 6.2 or be able to run on 5.3.1.
I hope the latter else I'll be looking for more, more, more. It never ends.
I want to focus this next year on mics, pres, and distressors.

Reading the web site so do not quote me. I think 6.2 only.
Lucky I have been playing with OSX since the room was down.

ACCEL will only work with 6.2 in OSX but if you needed to do something in OS9, I don't see why you couldn't disconnect the ribbon cable from the ACCEL card(s) and be running a normal old HD1. You will obviously lose some things like power, tracks and inputs but at least it is still possible.

There is no price increase for the HD Accel systems according to my local dealer. The trade in policy has not been made official and won't be posted until Monday. The Core card remains the same in the system, and new Accel cards cost $5k each retail.

As I am hearing it, the Accel systems are 500 more far an HD2XL and 1000 more for an HD3 Accel. The core does reamain the same, so maybe it is ony the HD1 that your dealer was thinking of? The trade in amounts are posted on the other Accel thread..

1st edition HD process to HD XL - $2495.00

2nd edition HD Process to HD XL - $ 1995.00

IF you bought an HD2 or HD3 rig after January 15th of this year,
it is 1495.00 per card to upgrade.

oh, and in case it isn't on here already, ther is no price drop on HD2/3 systems, they are gone. discontinued. if you want one at the old price, you will need to find one in stock at a dealer.

AAAAAH!
I'm so conflicted!
I'm in the process of upgrading to what was an HD2. I was going to stay at OS 9.x until the next step, then go G5 and upgrade all my other OSX upgrades later. So now if I want to go HD2 I'm forced to go OSX. (the big problem is I'm using the first G4, so much for upgrades, w/pci graphics, not suported in PT6.x) Now I'm a little d24 + 2dsp farms. I just checked eBay and noticed all the Mix farms. I know Digi will introduce a new card for PCIX in the next year. I believe the Accel is a transistion card between PCI and PCIX.

Should I hold? Should I upgrade to HD1? Should I just go for it HD2XL? Should I Get a Mix Farm and wait for PCIX and G5??? Should I put my $ into mics and Pres? Should I spend less time on forums?

Why are they putting it to the people who purchased before January? That sucks. I have better things to spend money on.
