Well it has been a long time since I bought that mic.
It sounds very very fat, with veiled quality to it. There is a certain character that either fits what you need or you need to try different mic, because I was unable get rid of it.
Compared to km76 (essentially a km86) mkh405 sounds (much) darker and smoother. Quite a contrast to a crispy neumann sound.
I had luck with some (2-4kHz) agressive voices, it just totally ignores it there is too much at those freqs and the results came out smooth. But it lacks character in upper midrange with less agressive sound...
I'm glad I have it, it's a good tool.
