Thread Starter | Headphone advice needed!!!!!
Im about to move into a flat and will no longer have the luxury of playing music loud when I want. I have got a set of Yamaha HS80m monitors with the sub, which I am very happy with as they translate very good to most systems. I will still be using these main monitors for final mixdown and checking my stereo image in the daytime. What I would like is a pair of headphones which will translate mixes good also to other systems. I also like to hear midrange clearly (forward), with a tight defined bass so I know exactly what I'm dealing with. I did listen to a pair of ATH M50 today in my local music store, but they sounded boomy with no clarity/definition . They were plugged into some Numark Dj interface though, so I dont know whether it was a fair judgement. My budget is £300 and I make House & Electronic music. Any info would greatly appreciated as I have no clue what headphones to spend my money on. .

I just graduated up to a pair of Shure SRH840s and I'm loving them - previously had used ATHM50s and they were pretty boomy, the Shures have a much flatter freq response.

I also have the 770 Pros. Great for tracking. Wouldn't altogether recommend them for mixing though. However, the better you know them, the better you will be able to mix with them (which is the same for knowing your monitors and room). |
