help me out with an EQ prob

I have an Allen and Heath mixwizard 16:2 set up running keyboards mikes you name it, runs fine as is.
However, i came across an Alesis m-eq230 and decided it would be cool to analyze the room and eq it accordingly. so on the rear of my allen and heath on top of the XLR main outs is 2 insert TRS jacks labeled L and R. I assume these are inserts that will effect the whole mix.
i plugged my trs cables in and put the send to the in on the alesis and return to the out on both L and R channels.
It cut the signal to the power amp im guessing because a track i was playing cut out, and turned back on when i removed the cables.
ive tryed switching the cables around and messing with the gains on the EQ, nothing
Any ideas how to get it working, or is it toasted?

Your insert cables are wired correctly?

You didn't plug both sends into one channel and both returns into the other by any chance?

Did you try anything other than the eq?

If they are inserts you will need to use insert cables.
Left from your desk to Left in and out on the analyzer same for the right ch.

i plugged the TRS into the insert, and the tip to the in of the EQ(L) and ring to the out(L)
same for R

no i dont have any other effects to test out at the moment but il try n grab one soon
