Thread Starter | How much more processing power does it take to mix/record in 88/96
I was curious what your experiences are when it comes to exactly how much more processing power it takes to be in 88(or 96) over 44 (or 48). Another way to express that could also be in track count reduction or another comparable. |

Not meaning to be oblique but it depends on what your using... DAW, GHz, Plugins, VI's... in my own experience, using Pro Tools (non HD) 2.8GHz i7 imac, maybe as much as 3 VI's in a song, I've found I have to commit a lot, Eleven plugin, Devil Loc, VCC, Waves Ampex, eat a lot of CPU, PT's isn't very efficient with VI's so I tend to bounce those. with track count thats a hard drive issue and not a problem I have encountered. I think the general rule is any CPU usage in session you have in 44.1/48, double that for 88.2/96.
