send signal from scarlett to hardware

I have tried several ways to get recorded audio to be sent out to a guitar amp or an API 512c in Reaper with the focusrite scarlett 8i6 interface with no luck.

I am wondering if the scarlett has this ability. Do I need a hardware mixer?

I'm trying to figure out how to add a little analog distortion to an audio track.

little help?

You may find it tricky to go into the amp without a reamp box as the level out of the Scarlett is line level, not instrument level. You should be able to go into your API's line input though.

Have you used Scarlett MixControl to route the audio to the output you are using to go to the API?
