ak4047 & us122

Long time reader, first time poster.

I'm thinking of getting a better mic.
Currently I just use my Zoom H4n into the us122 to record vocals.

I want tor record singersongwriter music (guitar and vocal)

I was considering getting a AT4047.

My question:
Is the AT4047 and us-122 a worhty combination?
Or will us-122 preamps degrade the improved sound I should get from the AT4047.

My room is treated btw.

Any input appreciated!

The 4047 is a cool mic - it's design is inspired by the Neumann U47fet which is notoriously warm and slightly dark.

I like Audio Technica and I think you'd be quite happy with this mic.

So long as your us122 has phantom power - it will be fine and I doubt it would degrade the sound of the mic.

That being said - another less expensive mic in the AT line that might yield a more neutral sound than the AT4047 is the AT4033. A lot of people really like these around here.

Fantastic mic no matter what. And it's a mic you'll probably keep around if you ever upgrade your pre/converter situation.
