There's already a huge thread about it here.

I'm planning to get it in the next week or so. I just sold some gear and have been lusting ever since I heard about it and read how good it's supposed to be. Although Duende looks pretty good too.

Phelbin,

I've noticed something in the discussion, the drawback to Duende is the track limitations. (look into the specs!)
Duende is hardware/software and requires more specific hardware to expand it.
You would have the limits with the Waves plugs but that limit is based only on your computer power. As you upgrade your hardware, which will also benefit all your other programs, you get increased power to run the plugs. The same is not quite true for the Duende system.

Yeah, Duende definitely does have limitations. But there is still something intriguing about plug-ins that come from SSL themselves instead of a third party like Waves. Having said that, I'm going to buy the Waves bundle in a week or two...not Duende.

But from what I've heard, the blind tests are actually very even. Supposedly of a group of guys who claimed to always be able to hear the 'SSL sound' one third thought the Waves plugins were the real thing, another third thought Duende was it, and then another third correctly guessed the actual SSL hardware. That's good news for people like me!

To me that's friggin amazing... to replicate the SSL accurately with a plug-in.. wow. If that's the case then it's worth $750 and an annoying copy-protection policy!!

I just used the channel strip on a few tracks in this project I'm mixing... I like them!

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

I'm using them for a while now and have to say the channel compressor is a huge disappointment. It does not capture the smack of the real SSL at all.

My hope rests with Duende now....

Not sure what the limitaions on Dunede are? I work at 48k so won't get the reduction. That should give 16 channels???

Tried the Waves but was not super impressed when I a/b against the SSL analog hardware

Bet Dunede sounds a lot better. We'll see
