Thread Starter | Is it reasonable to buy a used multiface 1 theese days
my question is convertors wise, let's sat that money is no not the big issue here. i want to upgarde my inputs from 4 to 8 and found a used multiface 1 for around 500$. i was happy to buy it but then came the thought that the card is now 10 years old. does anyone know if today's multiface 2's convertors are better in any way from a 10 years old multi face 1 cheers |

You might find one even cheaper. They certainly pop up in ebay Europe regularly for under £200 ($300 -ish), not sure about the US. That's kind of insane considering what you get for the price: great connectivity options, Totalmix, low latency, and generally just very solid & reliable. Works great on linux too Much better than any low-end interface you could buy new for the same price IMO.If you did a blind test with a Lynx Aurora, I doubt half the people could tell the two apart, never mind going head to head with the Multiface II. Conversion isn't a big issue these days, IMO. If you have to have the latest and greatest, look elsewhere but, for everyone else, it's a bit of a bargain. PS: don't forget the HDSP card |

It seems the term most associated with RME is 'rock solid'. I have multiface one purchased for cheap. The newer card costs the most money. If you have a functioning ten year old computer with PCI slots then it is very cost effective.

In general, I'd say ADDA conversion is a solved problem. Any well-made interface ought to be up to speed. Differences will exist but they're only small differences, as a rule. Keep an eye on this thread. I'll submit some Multiface I samples for comparison in a day or two - however long it takes to sober up. Happy New Year! |
