rackmount recorder: 16 tracks @ 96/24?!

hey all,

i'm currently looking for a rackmount back-up recorder that is capable of 16 tracks @ 96/24 preferably with ADAT inputs.

any suggestions?

the closest i have found so far is the alesis hdr24 but that can only do 12 tracks at 96/24 so would be a compromise.

any suggestions greatly appreciated,

regards,

richie.

undecided as yet, but as low as possible really since i just want a very basic backup recorder... in case you were going to suggest radar!

but then again, if a simple, functioning second-hand radar box that will do the job i need it to can be had for a reasonable price i could be tempted.

but sure what were you thinking of anyway, regardless of cost issues?

regards,

richie.

If cost is an issue and you cant find a used Radar that matches those specs you want (16 at 96... )

Contact Dale at Izcorp...1-800-776-1356 - They may have a used Radar s-nyquist model with only digital cards to keep the price down..

Or build your own PC with some i/o cards.. But after the cost of the PC and racking it up and the i/o cards it seems like it would be a wash..

Also, to be honest with you...

The RADAR sounds better at 44.1/24bit than most other cards out there running 96 and higher.. (Please this is not a flame war)..

Best of luck..

It's true. I got my Radar to do the higher sample rates, and almost never do it now. 44.1 or 48 sounds great. If you could find an older Radar for a good price, you'd be in good shape.

I use the discontinued Mackie SDR 24/96 for 24-track live recording at 96k. It works fine with a few operational tweeks, but it's a dicey buy on the used market.

the little things in life...

ok, well since i cant find any kind of standalone digital recorder that can take in 16 digital inputs at 96k and i cant find a sample rate converter that can do 16 channels (only 8, and a grand a piece, which isn't worth it for what i need 2 of them for) can anyone recommend me a 16 channel 1:2 line-level splitter that will not compromise the quality of a signal chain comprising of wunder, dav and chandler preamps?

thanks,

regards,

richie.
