Hey James, I've just got a PRS type guitar with a stoptail and tune o matic in the studio (previously only used Fenders) What's with the white thing between the bridge? Also, for recording, do you find wrapping strings around the bridge works nice? I noticed Phil X does this and even does it with sometimes just one string.

It's an AMEK M1000. The mute lights were replaced with LEDs by the previous owner

From what I've researched, it's the last desk totally hand built by AMEK. Same EQ as the later 2500 but with Sowter transformers in every channel.

It's a great desk!

Nice. I'm in a similar position: recently purchased a Ghost and am slowly (and hopefully selectively) building up my outboard.

May I ask how you floated the shelf above the Ghost's jackfield? DIY, off the shelf or custom? Any issues with it flexing?

So much easier to be creative, compared to my previous, pretty lush, Mackie Control setup.

The shelf is what's left of a cupboard door, jerry-rigged in place by stacking various objects underneath it for support. Most of the weight is not on the meter bridge. I'm planning on designing a proper desk for it at some point, but right now I'm breaking out some walls for a bigger room, so first things first.

The height of the meter bridge is perfectly in line with what's needed to plug in the jacks without excessively bending the cables. I'm using no-brand balanced multicables.

I found with outboard that the only things I really couldn't live without is a 2bus compressor and outboard reverb. Most insert effects can still be achieved through plugins if needed (even if I'm dreaming of getting more hardware on my inserts as well), but aux/2bus duties can't really be handled inside the computer without extra delays / hassle.

I think that's just two - he's left the delay punched in and it infected his camera-ra-ra-ra.

It's a BR-800 digital recorder / control surface. I've done a review of it here: Boss BR-800

I'm still working on my studio, but here are the SketchUp plans for my desk. Hopefully it'll actually turn out like this.

Some great rooms shown here!

Be it ever so humble, at least now my project studio is where it will
help me when the creative mood strikes.

Still have lots to learn, but finally getting up and rolling.
