Help! Bright room ???

hello friends.
I am reording in a 10' X 12' room with some carpets on the floors and things are sounding real bright and slappy . any ideas about affordable ways to bring some warmth into this room or at least take out the slapback phasey-ness. I have nice pres and mics.
I record acoustic guitars in this room mostly.
its an appmt. so I cannot really alter the structure, I built plugs for the windows that work well, made some traps out of old soundboard and french postal bags and I dont know if this is a good idea or not, using soundboard bundled up to five layers???
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you .

Build some freestanding panels - soft on one side and plywod on the other. Make em' in pairs of 1'x6' or 2'x6' and hinged in the middle like a dressing screen.

That lets you use them at various angles as you prefer for dispersion. Also lets you turn some around if you want it more dead by more directly exposing the sot side directly to the room.

Man, 10' X 12' is pretty small. I hate to say it, but maybe your room is a candidate for one of those Aurolex type room packages? (I honestly don't know if they work, maybe Ethan can chime in here).

Anyway, you're gonna have to kill, or severely maim the corners with something, and get the opposing wall reflections under control. At least the foam stuff is relatively portable and doesn't change the structure, which is the other requirement you mentioned. And it's not too expensive.

I would think free standing panels would buy up too much of your much needed space. Do corner traps in the room where possible. And don't forget that there are a lot of corners in a room. The wall to ceiling are all the same for being able to trap bass and will not take up you precious real estate needed in that small of a room. Gotta kill the bass. Cannot stress that enough! Then get the first reflection points too from your mix position. You will then notice a tremendous improvement in the room acoustics. Guaranteed every time...

I am feeling I have learned much from your posts and I thank you, before I act I need some further clarity.
as far as corner materials go what would you all recomend? and where would the first reflection points be? the wall directly behind my mix vantage? the wall at my back?

it seems like all of you low end is canceling itself out. Try 4" of 703 across all corners see trap as much as you can. That should make a big difference.

Some 4-inch 703 panels stuffed in the corners of the room will help with sucking up some of the low end problems. Moving Pads on mic stands make for some quick and dirty sound treatment. $15 at the auto store here.
