bought a api a2d what should i do with my mini me.

i bought a api a2d and i have a apogee mini me non usb version. the non usb versions are going for under $500 on ebay. if i could find a use for it i would keep it. good pres, cool comp. and i dont know if the converters are not better than the api,as i have not got to use it.

the firewire expansion cards are hard to find. is there a spdif to analog line out so i could use it outboard. is there such a thing as a clean spdif a/b box so i could switch between converters, without affecting the signal. im willing to spend a couple of hundred dollars.

it would be nice have it for mobile stuff. im sure i could get a cheap interface old mbox etc to run it through, but it would be cool to patch in on stuff

Get a M-Audio microtrack and connect the mini-me via spdif for a quality field recording setup that's super small and simple. Or, like you said, pick up a used Mbox 2 and have a nice 2 channel (actually 4 including the built in pres) PT/laptop rig. Either approach (assuming you have a laptop for the latter option) is super cheap - under $200.

As far as patching it in in a studio setup when you already have the A2D... meh...
